Warning: 121.5 MHz satellite distress beacons still available
Tue Feb 24, 2009: Bushwalking Australia has received a letter from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission
expressing concern that corporations might engage in deceptive and misleading conduct by advertising
that the above beacons provide an emergency response. They don't now, as the system was switched
off on February 1, 2009.
QPW / EPA Response on Wagawn Track
Wed Feb 4, 2009: Recently, many individual club bushwalkers have corresponded directly with the Minister raising
their concerns on the status of the Wagawn Track in Lamington National Park, the downgrading of
other tracks and the deletion of certain place names from maps and guides.
To avoid creating unnecessary inconvenience within the EPA / Queensland Parks and Wildlife,
Bushwalking club members are advised that any concerns regarding access to parks, or any other
parks management issue, should be directed in the first instance to the Regional Managers.
Any escalation of such issues can be made via the Collaborative Management Group (CMG) meetings,
which have been instituted for this purpose under the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
You can raise matters for the CMG agenda by contacting the secretary.
Many of these issues can be resolved at these levels of consultation in a cordial, businesslike manner without the need to generate Ministerial correspondence.

As the Pilgrimage campsite is next to Maroon Dam, kayaks will be welcome

Bring a bike too if you would enjoy a ride up the quiet Burnett Creek Road. Just in case you wanted
to know, that's John Marshall on the left in the photo and Ray Glancy on the right.
