Pilgrimage - Fri 20th to Sun 22nd August 2010
About
The Pilgrimage is an annual bushwalking and social event attracting members of affiliated
clubs from throughout the south-east corner of the state and sometimes further afield.
It is usually held at a campground venue and on the Saturday you can join one of many daywalks
through the surrounding areas. A Bush Dance and other social activities are organised throughout the weekend and it is an
ideal time to meet and renew friendships with fellow bushwalkers. The activity is run on a non-profit basis.
2010
This year the pilgrimage is hosted by the
Toowoomba Bushwalkers Club Inc. at the Crows Nest Show Grounds (see
How To Get There for more details) between the 20th and 22nd August.
Election Update
Reminder: Federal Election coincides with Pilgrimage
As per the AEC website
http://www.aec.gov.au/Voting/ways_to_vote you have three options for voting:
- Early Vote via Post (prior to the 21st)
- Early Vote in Person at a pre-polling booth (prior to the 21st)
- Absent Vote in Crow’s Nest on the day
Toowoomba Bushwalkers have been in contact with the local AEC office and they are alerted to the need to have extra ballot papers at the Crow’s Nest RSL polling booth to cover other South East Queensland Electorates.
While some walks on the Saturday will start after polls open at 8am, some will not. It is expected that most walks will return before the polls close at 6pm, however if choosing a more challenging walk you may want to consider the risk of a delayed return affecting your ability to vote on the day and cast an Early Vote.
Please note that if you are not from Queensland you will not be able to cast an Absent Vote in Crow’s Nest because they only have Queensland ballot papers. You will need to cast an Early Vote in your own electorate.
At least we’ll all get to bush-dance the night away while the votes are counted next door!
